It is the most populous city in Tuscany and has a population of 364779 (696767 in the urban area). The city lies on the Arno River and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, the city is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages. It was long under the de facto rule of the Medici family. From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. The historic centre of Florence continues to attract millions of tourists each year and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.

Universal Studios Orlando - Planning your Orlando Florida vacation at Universal Studios Orlando.

Universal Orlando Resort is made up of three different parks - Universal Studios Orlando, Islands of Adventure (which has just opened the Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and Wet 'n Wild. The resort is perfectly located and while researching your hotels in Orlando, look no further than International Drive as Universal Orlando is even close enough to walk. However, some hotels offer complimentary shuttles to make your life even easier, and cabs are very cheap thanks to the nearby location.

The Islands of Adventure some of the world's most incredible rides, such as the Hulk and 3D Spiderman and the Jurassic Park River Adventure. The newest area of the park is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter which opened in June 2010 and is proving a huge attraction in Orlando amongst the young and old.

Universal Studios house the thrill rides of Revenge of the Mummy and Hollywood's Rip Ride Rockit. ET Adventure and Men In Black are more for the kids, and Shrek 4D is sure to thrill all of your senses as you feel heat and cold along with the standard 3D pictures. Jaws is also a popular ride based around the fictitious Amity Harbour.

Wet 'n Wild is located in the heart of International Drive right amongst most of the hotels in Orlando and is one of the best water parks in the city, only rivalled by Aquatica near Sea World.

Apart from all the thrill rides at these attractions, Universal's City Walk is always buzzing with energy day and night - with a huge variety of restaurants, clubs and special events. You can even sing like a pop star with karaoke at Rising Star, where you get your very own band and back up singers. Among my favorites is Bob Marley's Tribute to Freedom, which houses a great outdoor dance floor with a live band! You will find all your favourite cocktails bars here as well, like Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and Hard Rock Café.
